Louisiana success stories

LA Success Stories
Quality improvement endeavors can often feel overwhelming, but chances are, you can learn from the experiences that another physician, hospital or nursing home has had in a similar situation. Coupled with support from Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network, learning what has worked for others — and what didn't — is a valuable strategic planning component.

We encourage you to read the success stories, contact us for more information, and also let us know if you have a Quality Insights' success story to share.

EDC Class Graduates Share Thoughts about Class Experience

EDC Logo Picture 4Graduates of the Everyone with Diabetes Counts (EDC) program in Louisiana recently shared comments about their experiences with Quality Insights’ Quality Improvement Specialist Karen Ziecker. Graduates participated in classes at the Daughters of Charity Services in New Orleans, La.  The classes were taught by Peer Leaders Sylvia Denson, RN and Faye Bertrand.

“At first I was afraid of the class. But, I really enjoyed the class and would love to take it again! It was fun, very enjoyable and now I feel full of knowledge. I'm going to try really hard! Thank you so much."
- Evangeline Marin, EDC Class Graduate
"This class was life changing for me! The instructors’ presentations were awesome, thorough and on-point. I am now consistently aware of my intake of food and the importance of daily exercise. Thank you, Daughters of Charity, for extending your staff to our communities. God Bless You."
- Delores Miles, EDC Class Graduate
"The experience I had with EDC was an eye-opener. It has changed my way of thinking, and most of all, my way of eating. I am so grateful that I ran into Sylvia at Daughters of Charity. Words really can't explain how I feel. Keep doing what you do."
- Lynn James, EDC Class Graduate
About Everyone with Diabetes Counts (EDC)
EDC in Louisiana uses the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) curriculum created by the University of Illinois at Chicago. DEEP teaches people with diabetes and/or their caregivers the skills they need to be in control of their health. Consisting of six weekly classes, participants learn about diabetes risks, nutrition, weight management, how to properly manage medications and much more. Based on group interaction and working together, the classes empower and inspire the participants to feel confident about their health and themselves.
Quality Insights facilitates free diabetes education classes throughout Louisiana as part of the EDC program. View a list of available workshops.
