Dept. of Health Recommends Getting Immunized by Oct. 31

Flu season is here and the Pennsylvania Department of Health recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a flu vaccine every year, preferably by the end of October.
Getting vaccinated later can be protective, as long as flu viruses are circulating.

In addition to getting a flu shot, it's important to take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs, including:

  • Washing your hands often
  • Covering mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Cleaning surfaces regularly
  • Staying home when sick
