Pennsylvania Medicare Card Mailings Complete

7/19/2018
In April 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began replacing Medicare cards in order to remove Social Security numbers. The new cards include unique Medicare numbers. This change will help protect Medicare consumers’ identities but will not impact benefits and coverage.

While the Medicare card mailing to beneficiaries residing in Pennsylvania has been completed, a small portion of these beneficiaries have not received their cards.

Those who have not yet received new Medicare cards can take the following steps:

  • Sign into MyMedicare.gov to see if the card was mailed. An official card can be printed from the account site. Beneficiaries can create an account if one is not currently established.
  • Contact 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for assistance. It is possible that a beneficiary may have to update his/her mailing address.

In the interim, beneficiaries can continue to use their current Medicare card to obtain healthcare services until the new card is received. Visit Medicare's website for additional information regarding the new Medicare card mailing status.
