Growing Pittsburgh Practice on the Path to MIPS and Immunization Success with Help from Quality Insights

Campbell & Philbin Medical Associates is a six provider practice that has two locations in Pittsburgh, PA. Lynn Karaffa, Practice Manager, has been working closely with Lisa Sagwitz, Quality Insights Practice Transformation Specialist, to better understand the intricacies of the new Quality Payment Program (QPP).
With access to Quality Insights resources, educational events and virtual technical assistance, the practice now has a better understanding of the requirements of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). “Unlike last year, we now feel confident we are on the path to successful attestation. You have equipped us with the necessary information and tools we need to guarantee our success,” said Karaffa.
Lisa Sagwitz shared that she schedules monthly calls with Karaffa to review the practice’s data and pinpoint what still needs to be done to best ensure success within the MIPS program.
Thanks to that valuable support, Campbell & Philbin Medical Associates is on a successful track for 2017 MIPS and expects to score in the “exceptional performance bonus” group.
The practice is also an active participant in Quality Insights’ Immunization project and works with Suzanne Fritz, RN Project Coordinator, to improve patient immunization rates. “She keeps us informed with regards to immunization trends and provides great suggestions to implement in our offices,” shared Karaffa.
Campbell & Philbin Medical Associates is very dedicated to providing the highest level of care to its patients and has been an active participant in quality improvement projects with Quality Insights for many years. “As a small but busy and growing practice, having access to the knowledge and guidance that Lisa and Suzanne provide is invaluable,” said Karaffa. “Being able to take advantage of their expertise at no cost to our practice is amazing!”
