Quality Insights Helps PA Practice Navigate the Road to MIPS Success

Merakey (formerly NHS Human Services) is a behavioral health practice that operates in multiple states (including Pennsylvania, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey and New York). Merakey Project Manager Sam Gillin began working with Quality Insights in November 2017 to better position the practice for successful Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting.
Gillin, along with four colleagues, has been working closely with Quality Insights Practice Transformation Specialist Lisa Sagwitz over the past few months. They communicate regularly via phone calls and virtual training sessions. This individualized technical assistance is focused on helping the Merakey team gain a clear understanding of MIPS and learn what needs to be accomplished in order to earn a high MIPS score, which will result in a positive payment adjustment from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
“All locations scored well for our 2017 reporting period,” reports Gillin. The Merakey team has already begun planning calls with Sagwitz to discuss 2018 MIPS reporting requirements. “We are confident that with Lisa’s help our MIPS scores will be even better in 2018. Our goal is for all of our TINs to achieve the exceptional performance bonus for the next reporting period,” shared Gillin.
Gillin credits Sagwitz, who was nicknamed their “MIPS Angel,” with leading the practice down the path to MIPS success. “We really struggled to understand what we needed to do in regards to MIPS reporting, but thanks to Lisa’s support and guidance, we are now on the right track.”
