As we get older, our immune systems tend to weaken over time, putting us at higher risk for certain diseases.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 60 percent of seasonal flu-related hospitalizations occur in people 65 years and older.

The CDC recommends that people with Medicare get the following immunizations:
  • Seasonal influenza vaccine
  • Td or Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • Herpes zoster (shingles) vaccine

How We Can Help

Quality Insights’ Quality Innovation Network has  developed and offers free evidence-based resources to promote influenza, pneumococcal and herpes zoster vaccination best practices, guidelines and tools to break down barriers to care for disparate populations. We also convene a Learning and Action Network (LAN) to give providers, community organizations and patients the opportunity to share, learn and make a difference. Together, we will improve access to and quality of care while our efforts increase immunization rates

Join us as we work to improve immunization practices and rates in Louisiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
